Jewish Family Service

San Diego, CA

The Jacob’s Campus renovation project was inspired by the guiding principles and values of Jewish Family Service of San Diego. This non-profit organization offers a multitude of services to the community such as counseling, food delivery, homeless shelters, and job placement. The project brought to life their commitment to client centeredness, dignity, and healing with the goal to provide additional, effective client services, in a good, collaborative working environment.

The scope included the full renovation of two single story tilt up structures as well as a reconfiguration of the site. The program included office space for several departments, numerous meeting and collaboration areas, a large multi-purpose room, a commercial kitchen for food distribution, and a market-style food pantry. This was achieved with several goals in mind, the most important was to create a welcoming and community oriented facility. Client services were congregated in one building so as to better serve the public, while operations and administration were located in the other. Clear circulation and organization, an abundance of natural light, and warm, natural materials all help play a role in making this an inviting, comfortable environment for both visitors and employees
