Celebrating the Completion of a New Sycuan Health Center

The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation celebrated the opening of the new Sycuan Health Center, designed by SRA, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 19, 2025. Our team was honored to join members of the Sycuan Band, health center staff, special guests, and community members to mark this meaningful milestone. The event reflected the shared vision and collaboration that brought this important community resource to life.

The 25,000-square-foot health center broke ground in October 2024 and officially opened last month, replacing an aging medical facility and expanding the Tribe’s capacity to serve its community. The new center supports a wide range of medical, dental, social, and behavioral health services in a welcoming, light-filled environment.

SRA developed a comprehensive program for the building that supports a full range of medical, dental, social and behavioral health services. Spaces include exam and procedure rooms, laboratories, operatories and sterilization areas, as well as radiology, pharmacy, and chiropractic services. All departments are organized around a large central lobby utilizing double height space and views along the entry axis that continue through to a rear landscaped patio for patient use.

The project’s landscaping reinforces its connection to place through native, drought-tolerant vegetation that is culturally significant to the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation and the Tribe’s traditional medicinal practices.
