Northwestern Division Police Station

Carmel Valley, San Diego, CA

This Police Station for the City of San Diego serves the northwest area of the city and adjacent communities. The station is a single-story building containing offices, meeting rooms, storage and supply rooms, an employee lounge, fitness center, and an emergency communications room. The design required meeting law enforcement’s unique security needs, enclosing the building in a protective 8′ concrete wall, while providing a comfortable and inviting work space. By organizing the building around a linear central atrium, the sunlit spine running through the building provides natural lighting for 85% of the rooms and creates an open and comfortable work environment. This efficient design earned the project a LEED Silver certification.
