222 North City Achieves Certificate of Occupancy in San Marcos

Among the largest of Safdie Rabines Architects’ current projects, 222 North City has reached a defining milestone via receiving Certificate of Occupancy, marking the beginning of a new chapter for this mixed-use development in San Marcos.

For SRA, this moment represents more than a transition from construction to completion. Occupancy signals the point at which architecture begins to fulfill its purpose, when spaces designed on paper become places that are lived in, experienced, and integrated into the daily rhythm of the community.

Located in (and named after) North County’s emerging downtown district North City, 222 North City contributes to the evolving urban fabric of San Marcos through a blend of residential living and community amenities and spaces, retail at the ground level, and pedestrian connectivity with the surrounding North City district and nearby CSU San Marcos campus.

222 North City’s design prioritizes sense of place, community interaction, and a strong relationship between architecture and public life. Every aspect is designed to create a connected living experience rooted in place. 222 North City introduces more than 460 thoughtfully designed residences—and becomes the tallest building in San Marcos at twelve stories—it simultaneously provides a cohesive architectural language that supports the broader vision of North City as a vibrant urban destination within the Greater San Diego region.
